Upon healing an area of wounding, we can leave a legacy of wellness, compassion, and peace. Much like dandelions are often judged as weeds, the areas of wounding within us may be judged as a nuisance—limiting us from their many benefits!
What could be additional functions of a dandelion? To aerate the earth, bring life to barren soil, draw nutrients from deeper in the Earth to the surface, to feed pollinators early in the spring, to feed and heal animals and people, among many other things!
Similarly, what could be some additional functions of the areas of wounding within us? To alert us to something that does not feel safe, something needing our attention, draw us deeper until we find our values and, in turn, become sources of compassion towards others.
If we follow the roots of our traumas and attend to what’s there, perhaps we can transform those roots into sources of healing and nourishment for generations to come.
